The supplies you need are:
-6 to 8 spools of ribbon, in the same color, just different patterns
- 1 6" Styrofoam ball (use the crunchy styro ball, and not the squishy one)
- 1 box of medium pins with a flat head (I got REALLY small ones, and had to use two of them to put in one ribbon, so I basically doubled my work, dur)
- A pair of scissors
- About two hours of time
- About two hours of time
Here are my supplies:
I used a combination of thick and thin ribbons. I think it really helped to give it more of a clean look.
Once you have gathered your supplies, cut the ribbon into six inch long pieces. Start curling them into circle and pin the gathered part into the ball. I put the ribbon circles really close together on the ball, I didn't want any Styrofoam to show through.Put the pieces in horizontally and vertically for a more "mixed up" look.
Keep curling the ribbon into circles and pinning them into place.
The end result looks really cool:You can easily hang these by leaving a hole at the top and the bottom of the ball and then running ribbon or wire through it.
These would be so cute for a baby shower, or a birthday party. It's just pretty time consuming.
I was originally going to make four of these, but I have no patience for this kind of thing, so this ribbon ball will be all by its lonesome somewhere at the wedding. Five bucks for the first person who can find it on the big day.
Good Luck!
