Birthday Letter

Dear Charlotte,

Today will be your birthday.  Your very first breath, your very first minute on this earth will be today.

To say that I am excited is a total understatement. To say that I'm scared would be totally accurate.

I'm already so in love with you that actually meeting you and kissing you and touching you may just be what puts me over the edge of happiness.

I've been thinking a lot about how we got to this moment.  It all started with your father.  The love of my life.  I knew that over four years ago that we would be here someday.  I knew it the second he kissed me.  And now we are here.  We found love for each other and that lead us to you.  You are what is still right in this world: Innocence, exploration, freedom.

I cry as I write this and I guess I just can't pinpoint exactly why, but I'm sure it has something to do with anticipation.

I can't wait to meet you.  Can't wait to kiss your cheeks and smell your head and count your toes.
