Maternity Leave

One week from today is my last day at work for a very solid 8 weeks (that is unless I go into labor next week or over the weekend or something).

Since I was 16 years old I've had a job and once I graduated from high school and started (but never finished) college, I worked full time.  Most of that has been with the same "company" I'm still working for. Please excuse the quotes, I don't really work for a company but more of an entity...?  I don't know, I don't talk about work on the blog.

I wish I could take off more time from work but its just not possible right now.  We're hoping by the time we have baby number 2  (yeah we're planning on it already) that I will be able to be a stay at home mom but for now I'll be a working mom, and I'm really proud of myself for that.

My mom was a stay at home mom, through most of mine and my brothers childhood.  It was lovely growing up to have your mom there to pick you up from school.  I remember doing a lot of craft stuff as a child and having lots of fun outings.  I hope I can give that to my kids eventually but for now I need to focus on making enough money to put her in a good daycare when I go back to work, and be able to feed her and cloth her and stuff.

I'm excited to be off for so long, and my husband is going to be off for the first two weeks as well so I'm looking forward to lots of bonding time between the three of us.
