We started Charlotte on rice cereal the week of her 4-month birthday, which was the week of Thanksgiving. Guys, no shitting here, its so gross. First off, its powder stuff that you mix with formula (or breast milk if you're still doing that, which I am not). It smells like crap, because formula smells like crap.
So, at first she hated it. Maybe not so much hated it, but she did indeed spit more out then she ate and I think that was just because she had never used a spoon before. So we gave her a few days in between feedings and then tried again and ohemgee she can't get enough. Since she was a tiny (10 pound) newborn baby she has been obsessed with food. She can't get enough. If a bottle is anywhere in her line of sight, she will open her mouth and start shaking her head back and forth violently as if to say "give me some of that damn food". It's adorable and cute and not scary at all, swear. Now she does the same thing with the rice cereal.
We feed her on the couch, (a brave couch indeed Kendall) because she is still too little for the circa 1994 high chair that was gifted to us and she won't eat in the bumbo. She still gets it everywhere but we literally have to shovel that stuff in to her mouth, and if we don't do it fast enough, she starts to freak out. And then we give her a spoonful and she steals the spoon to chew on it, bad parenting? Maybe. But I don't care because it keeps her happy, and a happy Charlotte = a happy mommy and daddy. Husband-o-mine posted a few pictures of her eating on his facebook. And they're freaking adorable.
Oh, and he gave her ice cream too, which I was upset about, but really only because he was the one who gave it to her, not me. Boo, work!
So while I'm here and I'm not sure when I'll be back let's give ya and update shall we?
Last week for her 4 month shots she weighed in at 17.8 pounds and because I'm a horrible mother I don't remember how long she is, but I want to say 27"? Maybe. Which would make a 7.8 pound weight gain since birth and 7". The weight, to me sounds like it should be more, especially for how much she was at birth, but the doctor wasn't concerned, so I won't be.
She rolls over all the time. She fell off the couch a few mornings ago. She still eats her fingers all the time. Her eyes are still blue and she has a mad widows peak and one perfectly round bald spot right smack on the back of her head. Her hair is sort of brownish/reddish. Not blond like me or her daddy when we were little. She loves bath time, loves to stand up, loves to grab her feet in the air, loves to laugh and make lots of noise. She wants to sit up SO badly, but she slumps forward so she isn't quite THERE yet. She is slowly starting to notice our dog Ollie, mostly only when she chews on Charlotte's toys or lays on Charlotte's play gym with her. She is a happy baby most of the time, but feels the need to be stimulated all the time, which is exhausting. She knows how to fake cry. How does a 4 month old know how to fake cry? To us, she is the most beautiful baby ever created
I love the thing, but hi ho the dairy oh, I'm exhausted.
